EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy method that was developed by Francine Shapiro, Ph.D. in 1987 and has become a well- recognized and effective treatment for trauma. As more therapists have become aware of the benefits of EMDR, they have reported using EMDR to successfully treat other problems such as anxiety, complicated grief, bad memories, and even concerns about body image. There is new research on EMDR every year and we are learning more all the time about how it works and the types of problems that respond well to this integrative treatment. At Labyrinth Psychological Services, P.C., we offer EMDR by well-trained therapists who are familiar with the latest research and can advise you about the benefits and limitations of EMDR as part of your treatment plan.
